The world is moving towards an ambitious goal of net zero by 2050 and the magnitude of this challenge requires bringing together stakeholders from the entire energy supply chain as a critical component to drive the success of a sustainable future.
The Energy Transition Network, launched in August 2024, will provide a pre-competitive environment that spans the entire energy supply chain necessary for a successful and sustainable global energy transition.
The Network at University of Chicago will perform 3 key functions:
1. Act as a Center of Excellence allowing convening of industry, academia and national lab experts in the energy field.
2. Adopt a “Mine to Line” philosophy to explore the fundamental science necessary to solve industry relevant problems and drive the energy transition across the technical network from fundamental materials to the grid.
3. Enable and accelerate the development and deployment of early stage technologies through various ecosystem partners in the Chicagoland and Great Lakes Region, including University of Chicago’s clean tech accelerator, Resurgence.
Benefits of the Network to Companies:
▪ Attend annual events and select ecosystem partnering events
▪ Recruit our top talent
▪ Collaborate one-on-one with faculty
▪ Embed a Visiting Industry Fellow
▪ Create university – industry collaboration teams
▪ Access to commercialization engine with lab-to-market focus
